Mama Mama....

I was very delighted & surprised today. After a really bad day at work, dad came with Chloe in the car. Upon seeing me outside the vehicle, she gave me her usual sweet smile & jumped on my dad's lap excitedly. When I got in the car, dad said: Call 妈妈? Chloe immediately repeated 妈妈! The way she addressed me was so hard to forget. It was spoken in such perfect pitch in Chinese as if it was from an older child. I did not teach Chloe that for sure, but she was able to address me with that tone, boy I was elated. My stress accumulated throughout the day kinda faded at that point.

The evening went on with me carrying her home after dinner & I tried my luck again by repeatedly saying 妈妈 to Chloe. She smiled & repeated 妈妈 with the same perfect pitch! over & over again! I might have a rough day at work, but when I heard Chloe call me 'Ma ma', it was enough to melt my heart :)

Which Childcare To Go?

My mood now: Frustration + Agony + extreme STRESS!

Got a call on Sunday from my aunt. BAD NEWS. She cannot help me care for Chloe from July onwards as my uncle has to undergo a major operation soon. Even after his operation, he has to go through months of recuperation at home. I have to look for an alternative soon!!

My first thought was HOW? WHO? WHERE?

What do I do now at such a short notice?
Who can help me with my baby?
Where is the most ideal centre I can bring my baby to ?

Chloe is only 15 months now. She would belong to the 'Infant' group but after 3 months, there is the transition to the 'Childcare' stage.
I do hope I can find a feasible solution very soon so that me & Pete can continue working without any worries!

Outing @ Globetrotters Restaurant

We met up with some of the March mummies & babies today for lunch @ Globetrotters United Square. Irin & her twins Reyes & Reyden, Charmaine & Leia, Jaxe & Josianne, Michelle & Keira, Huajing & Elisha, Joelle & Seth, Moogen & Domi, Linda & her 3 kids Lavonne, Lucius & Letticia were all present.

Chloe was quite grouchy as we suspected she could be teething again. She didnt really interact with her friends as she was either busy wandering around the place or refusing to sit still on the high chair.

Cod Bake for Dinner!

While Pete brought Chloe out for a swim, I had the time to dig out my mini oven from the storeroom & start baking!

Chloe's Dinner for Tonight:
Easy Peasy Cheesy Cod Bake

Cod fillets
Diced carrots (I added leftover long beans)
Butter
Flour
Milk (I used fish stock from the cod!)
Pepper & basil to taste
Shredded Mozarella Cheese

Grease baking dish then bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add cod fillets and cook for 4 to 6 minutes; drain.

Make a Roux - Melt butter. Remove from heat and mix in the flour and milk/ Stock. Return to stove over medium heat, and stir until thickened. Season the Roux with basil and pepper.

Flake the boiled cod into baking dish, top up with sauce. Sprinkle top with shredded cheese.

Bake in preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted & golden browned.

ENJOY!

Grocery Shopping!

It's a fine Saturday morning today. After a hearty breakfast of Hakka Soon Kueh & glutinous rice with dad & Chloe, I headed to AMK Hub alone with Chloe for some grocery shopping.

We bought Cod fillet, mozarella cheese, silken tofu, carrots etc for dinner tonite since Pete will be away for a wedding dinner. It's the first time I brought Chloe grocery shopping alone today. Since Chloe can walk on her own now, I dun have to worry about having to carry her too much.

However I had a hard time lugging back 2 bags of groceries including her milk powder + 10kg (Chloe's weight) after I unloaded the stuff from the trolley! :P Maybe I should do this more often to build up some bicep muscles?

Caught Red Handed

Chloe is always curious about the things around the house. She will rummage through my stuff everytime she runs out of things to play. Despite my firm stares & 'NOs' that she is not allowed to touch mummy's things, she still continued to ransack my wardrobe & kitchen drawers.

Father's Day

Backdated post: Sigh..havn't been feeling well cos of my consistent cough hence the late post! i am on MC again + I have Hives today *Arrgh!*

Father's day celebration started early on Saturday when I brought Chloe to have dinner with my dad & sisters & my 2 nephews. Where is PETE?? well...he spent his night with his kakis at the National Stadium watching the qualifying match between Singapore & Saudi Arabia. We had dinner at Melbourne, a coffeeshop stall in Ang Mo Kio Ave 4. Melbourne is famous for their Claypot Crab Beehoon. The food was fantastic but I was too busy eating & caring for Chloe that I didnt take any photos haha. (Well well...my fingers were oily!) The total damage for 7 adults?? a whopping $287.60 :P We didnt mind though..but dad was complaining. I guess he still prefers to dine at his usual coffeeshop stall without having to travel at all.

On Sunday, Pete & I went to visit Mom in law after Chloe's photoshoot for the Young Parent's Cover baby contest. We had a simple lunch & by late evening, we took a bus down to Suntec to check out any last minute offers at the PC show. Pete got his Sony Walkman MP3 player @ $88. These are my Father's Day present for him :)

All For A Good Cause

The Barclays Premier League trophy is in town! Yes not in Manchester but in sunny Singapore! The trophy, now on a South-east Asian tour is on display at the Takashimaya Civic Plaza today. This fund-raising event is organised by AIG for the Sichuan earthquake victims. Being an ardent fan of Manchester United himself, Pete wasted no time in bringing Chloe down with him for a snap shot of the trophy.

Some facts about the trophy:
- designed by Asprey and Garrard (crown jewellers to the Queen)
- 1m tall 61cm wide
- total weight 25 kg

端午节

Duan Wu Jie (5th day of the 5th month of the Lunar calender) is a widely celebrated Chinese festival among the Chinese community. It is to commemorate the patriotic poet QU YUAN in ancient China.

Today, Pete & I with mum in law had a mini picnic at the Botanical Gardens. Of cos we brought dumplings along with us to celebrate the occasion. I wanted to let Chloe have her first taste of ZONG ZI (棕子)during our outing, on 2nd thoughts, I did not. I will let her try glutinuous rice when she is slightly older. The weather was fantastic, it was cloudy but breezy. I wouldnt have enjoyed the walk if it's a bright sunny day!

We proceeded on to starhub at Plaza Singapura to upgrade my plan & yes! I changed my modem FINALLY! Chloe had cold mineral water from the bottle at Carrefour cos we have forgotten to pack her water bottle in a hurry :P

The rest of the afternoon was spent food tasting along East Coast Road. Chloe finally fell asleep after missing her morning nap upon arrival. As we strolled along the shops leisurely, we noticed the row of shops selling mostly food. From Peranakan, to Chinese, to Western & Japanese food. We had Katong laksa (of cos!), went on to tabao some dumplings at 'Kim Choo', then stopped over for more food at Ampang Yong Tau Fu & crossed over the street to 'Chin Mee Chin confectionary' for kopi O & some delicious custard puffs for dessert ..Mmmmm YUMMY! Wow! YES! we ate NONSTOP while our baby is sleeping away...Wat indulgence :P

Sharing Is CARING

Today I finally managed to get Chloe to share her biscuits with me. I felt a sense of accomplishment as I've tried to instil this in Chloe a few months back. She loves her biscuits to bits. Never once will she decline when I offer her. I was quite taken aback when she actually put the biscuit into my mouth when I said : CHLOE, SHARE WITH MUMMY PLS?. I gladly took a small bite to show my appreciation, of cos not forgetting to say a big THANK YOU to my little sweetie. Chloe did this for a few rounds & after every biscuit I passed her, I tested her by requesting for a bite too. She offered to me before eating it herself! *proud grin*

Our kids watch our every move. Children learn by example. I believe having learnt this basic step of sharing with mummy, Chloe will gradually learn to also extend this to her friends & people around her.

Self Feeding

Pete brought home a packet of rice for lunch today & as usual Chloe scrambled up the bench wanting to join us. After having a few spoonfuls of rice from the lunch box, Chloe attempted to self feed. Pete guided her along & it got quite messy. Chloe had rice all over her romper & thighs but we had great fun watching her trying to feed daddy as well!

Easy Breezy....Online Shopping!

With the GSS & all happening in town, it's still quite inconvenient especially for mummies who need to work full time & rush back home to take care of their little ones. I hate to be stuck in the crowd on weekends especially with a 'i want mummy 100% child' tagging along on your shopping trips.

Our solution? ONLINE SHOPPING! It's super fast & with the different merchants available online now, you can SHOP to your hearts contents. Of cos there are pros & cons when ordering your stuff online. You can't feel & touch the item personally. But I do love the excitement of receiving my parcel sent to my door step!

Here's one dress I ordered 2 nights ago...cute sailor dress for chloe :)

My New Pearlies

Pete was tickling Chloe when I noticed she has new teeth on her upper & lower gums while she was laughing away. No wonder Chloe was quite grouchy over the weekends. She would fuss & kept putting her fingers into her mouth. At times, she would take my mobile phone & put into her mouth!

Like Mother Like Daughter?

I thought this photo of Chloe smiling resembles that of me taken when I was about 5 years old. However most friends I know will agree that Chloe looks more like Pete.

Sexy In a Bikini

Picnic @ Pelawan Beach

It was a huge turnout yesterday at Sentosa. Yes a total of 17 babies with their mummies & daddies from the March forum thread. We arrived at about 2.30pm but the sky was already dark & cloudy. Despite the weather, we were enjoying ourselves with the good food & company.

Amosco swiss rolls, profiteroles & cream puffs, Delifrance fruit tarts, home made apple crumble & quiche for the babies, yogurt treat for the babies, Old Chang Kee fish balls, Crystal Jade egg tarts, fried bee hoon & Tiong Bahru Chwee Kueh were some of the highlights of the spread we had.

Chloe was quite cranky yesterday & uncooperative. She kept wanting her way & refuse to sit or stand still. Pete & I had to pacify & carry her most of the time.

Alas she managed to have some fun with her daddy at Vivo in the later part of the day before she fell sound asleep on the way back home.
