Throwing Tantrums

Accident In School

I was calling my client at work when I received a call from my mobile yesterday afternoon. When I saw 'Happy Family' flashing repeatedly on my phone, I had a premonition that I just have to end my client's call. I was right.

Teacher Monica called & informed me that Chloe hurt herself during story telling time in school. She had sat down too quickly & lost her balance. Her body fell forward & her lips hit the corner of a chair. She bled immediately & cried according to teacher Monica. They immediately applied compression on the area to stop the bleeding. Luckily the corner of the chair was rounded, hence Chloe didnt get a sharp cut on her lip. She was ok when Pete fetched her in the evening. However, her appetite was poor. She did not finish her breakfast & lunch at school. Chloe also fell asleep while drinking her milk & only had 100ml of her milk. Dinner was just a few mouthfuls of fishball Kway Teow & worse of all she had red rashes on her bottom. She cried bitterly when I bathed her. I had to pacify her & get on with the washing up as fast as I could.

When I scrutinised on Chloe's lips this morning, the top centre part of her lip is still red & slightly swollen. Her bottom is slightly better, it is still red but she did not scream when I applied a thick layer of Desitin cream on her. I guess it will take a few days to heal. Poor Chloe.

2 Weeks in Childcare & Frantic Mornings!

It's been 2 weeks since Chloe first stepped into the childcare centre. She seems to have finally adjusted to the daily ritual of going to school now.

For the first 2 weeks, Chloe will either cry while I change her into her uniform or when my dad's car enters the carpark compound near the childcare centre. Going to school in the morning is such a rush & stressful thing for me. I have to clean up a struggling & crying toddler & get myself ready for work every morning, making sure she has her milk & her school bag is packed. I can forget about looking fresh & fully made up before I leave the house. All that mascara thingy is done either in dad's car or in the office :P

Just this morning, Chloe pointed at her diaper & said 'Poo poo' after I got out from bed. Gosh! she poo so early this morning! After checking that she really did soiled her diapers, I brought her to the bathroom to wash up. Needless to say, the next 15 min or so is a frantic rush for me. Sometimes, I really wish I have another pair of hands to help me.

Papparazi Papa

Pete is on leave today & decided to have breakfast near Chloe's school. After breakfast, he is just in time to catch Chloe in action at the playground. Papa Pete was hiding behind a pillar when sharp-eyed Chloe spotted him!

The following blurred images are taken from my camera's lousy zoom option.

Papa caught sight of Chloe & zoomed in!

The following vdo captured Chloe repeatedly calling papa when she spotted him.

Happy Birthday To Yi Ma

Different Parts Of My Face

About 2-3 months ago, Chloe was taught where is her ears (耳朵) by Gu Po. She has problems figuring out wat is 眼睛 then. Yesterday I tried to ask Chloe again where her eyes, nose, mouth & ears were. She was able to point to me correctly. Then I repeated in Mandarin & Chloe was able to point to me 眼睛/ 鼻子/ 嘴巴/ 耳朵 in the correct order.

Chloe enjoys being 'tested' by me or Pete. She would smile & clap her hands when I praised her for a job well done. She can even point to my nose when I ask her where is mama's nose!

Chloe Goes To Childcare

Decided to summarize Chloe's first 4 days in childcare in one single post.

Chloe started goin to Childcare on Friday 3 October. During the 1st 3 days, she is only required to stay for half a day, ie) till 12 noon.

Day 1 :
Pete brought Chloe to the cc @ 8.40am while I report to work. By this time, most of the children have reached the childcare. She proceeded on to her classroom where she played with toys, ate breakfast, playtime @ the playground. She was quite disobedient as Pete told me she roamed around in class while the teacher is teaching :P She pooed after her breakfast & Pete took the chance to go for breakfast. During this time, she was pretty ok on her own & even wearing her own shoes to the playground. It was only when Pete got back & Chloe caught a glimpse of him from inside that she cried for him to carry her.

Day 2:
My turn to be with Chloe. As usual she roamed around in class while Teacher Monica & Teacher Wei Wei is teaching. When teacher Monica is on the topic of Flour, Chloe refused to feel the texture of it when she was encouraged to. Instead, she was more interested in the loaf of Gardenia raisin bread that the teacher brought out for the children to try :P Chloe practised on her motorskills by picking up a piece of bread from the plate with a toothpick. During lunch time, Chloe almost finished the bowl of fish porridge given to her. I am quite pleased that Chloe is eating well in school. Overall, she was great on her 2nd day in school.

Day 3:
Neither Pete or myself turned up at the cc. I merely brought her there in the morning before work & left after her daily health check. When Chloe felt my hands releasing her, she cried immediately. Quick thinking auntie Zhen hastily took over Chloe & carried her into the classroom. I left immediately as I did not want to see Chloe crying for me. I called teacher Monica at about 3.40pm. Teacher Monica was very pleased with Chloe's performance. She described Chloe as a 'wonderful' kid, telling me that she is independent & understood her instructions. Chloe is sociable & got along fine with her classmates. Poor Chloe dozed off in the middle of a class & teacher Alice had to carry her away. At one point during nap time, Chloe woke up & teacher monica told her to go back to sleep. Immediately Chloe understood & went back to 'sleep' with her eyes open. Gradually she fell asleep till the lights were on.

Day 4:
I was instructed to bring more diapers to school from the communication booklet. Chloe cried again after I passed her to Auntie Zhen. She was okay after about 5 mins. Teacher Monica told me that after play Chloe was looking high & low for Gong Gong. Poor darling, she remembers Gong Gong was there the day before after play time! I noticed Chloe was exceptionally hungry by the time it was 6pm. I guess I have to look into this & maybe get someone to feed her another round of milk after her break time at 3.30pm.

In summary, Chloe is adapting well in school & I am glad she is making a steady progress.

Mama...LOOK!

We were walking past an accessories shop on a Friday night when Pete came across these cute winter ear protectors. Vain Chloe was very eager to try them on & kept smiling for the camera.

Papa ..Hurry! Say CHEESE!

Pete & I woke up on Sunday morning & were greeted with a text message from his cousin. The message said: Chloe is on papers! She is smiling with her bottle in her hand.

We looked at each other & grinned. The night before, we guessed if there could be a possibility that the photo would be published the following day. We were not sure.

In fact, Pete brought Chloe along with him to register for the newpaper Big Walk on Saturday. Coincidentally, a reporter was there & interviewed him. There you see my smiling hubby & daughter posing for the camera. By the way, when I questioned Pete what Chloe was wearing besides her yellow tee, his reply? Oh! Her Pyjamas! :P

More Family Pictures from Club Med

These were taken by the resort photographer during our 5 day stay at Club Med. I thought why not take the chance as most of the time, either Pete or I will be the one shooting & of cos, one of us will be missing from the shot with Chloe. For now at least, we have a few family shots!
