SOL Playground Cafe (Turf City)

Chloe had fun meeting her friends from the March thread today. The venue is SOL Playground Cafe.

This child friendly cafe is situated at Turf City. It took us merely a 15 min shuttle bus ride from Toa Payoh Interchange to get there. Every Sunday, a balloonist cum face & hand painter is there to amaze kids with fun balloon sculptures & body painting. Every kid from the march thread had their little hands painted on. From dogs to flowers to dolphins & unicorns, the painter will paint anything to our kid's fancy.

During the process ...

Chloe had her take on the painting but was reluctant to continue when I noticed that she kept turning to me & shook her head & pulling her hand away from the painter. I guess she finds paint on her arms dirty? Well, we took a short break with her half painted hand & went outdoors to the playground with daddy.

Chloe & Her Friends

A quiet moment

Today's outing is a refreshing change from the usual places we went with Chloe. Especially during our house shifting, Chloe had missed out on many weekends with us. I am glad she enjoyed her day today.

After 2 Years ....

I went for my gynae appointment at ACJ this evening to see Doc Wong. It's been almost 2 years since Chloe was born. We are ready to take on another challenge.

I am about 6 weeks pregnant now according to the scan today instead of the expected 8 weeks which I thought due to the fact that I might have ovulated late.

The ultrasound scan showed that the foetus was only a tiny 4.99mm. It could hardly be detected through the usual tummy scan. The size of the foetus compared to my last mens did not really tally. According to Doc Wong, it's quite small. This remark got me worried for awhile as we could not detect a heartbeat initially. Doc Wong explained that usually when a foetus is small it could be due to the fact that it's not growing well. During conception, the egg that was fertilized might not be that good due to the health state of the mother.

We could only be sure when I go back for a review 2 weeks later. At this moment, all I can hope is that this pregnancy will progress smoothly as my first one.

Conversation With Chloe

I havn't been updating much about Chloe recently. Though we have been teaching her for some time, it's only recently I remembered to test her :P

Below is a typical conversation with Chloe in the morning while walking down the stairs on the way to childcare.

Me: Chloe, what's the day today?
Chloe: Sunday! (confidently)
Me: No silly girl its MONDAY ok?

While packing her bag before she sleeps, I asked her:

Me: Chloe how old are you?
Chloe: 2 years old

Me: Chloe, where's papa & mama's house?
Chloe: Punggol (sometimes she will say bingo)

Me: Chloe, where's gong gong's house?
Chloe: ANG MO KIO

Me: Where is mama's office?
Chloe: Toa Payoh

I got more ambitious & started teaching Chloe our names last night
Me: Chloe, wat is papa's name?
Chloe stared blankly at me
Me: Papa's name is Peter
Chloe: Peter
Me: Good girl...so what is mama's name?
Me: Katherine ok?
Chloe: Katherine

When I got home tonight, I tested her again.
Me: Chloe, what's mama's name?
Chloe: Peter! (confidently)
Me: ....

Date With Pete

I have been pretty tired of my life recently.. working, hurrying home, working hurry home, numerous trips with & w/o Chloe to our almost complete home etc..it's like a cycle & never ending. I wish I can take a break from the daily routine & away from work.

Yes I did, together with Pete. We went together to the crocs sale at EXPO today just to find good deals since my pair of mary janes is pretty worn out. We arrived early at 8am although the sale only starts at 10am! Already before us are approximately 40 people ahead in the queue. We had dropped Chloe at the childcare centre earlier today just to get there in time as we anticipated the huge crowd that was going to be there. In about 45 mins, we are done with our shopping leaving the event hall $100+ poorer.

Then we headed to Tampines One impromptu since we are nearby. I do not really want to go there on a weekend when I have to jossle with the crowd. It's a pretty new building not as big as I thought. We walked around the shops at our own pace, enjoying our time alone together. We had lunch at the Japanese food court called Manpuku Japanese Gourmet Town which I had seen on TV. I had wanted to try the much hyped fruit tarts freshly made on the spot by the chef. So after my Tempura Udon & Salmon Sashimi, Pete came back after nearly 25 mins in the queue with the most awsome fruit tart I had ever tasted. The cost of the tart is not cheap at $7.80 per piece. But i truely enjoy the light n fluffy texture of the tart, topped with mangoes so sweet that they just melt in your mouth. I would surely go back for more!

After a sumptuous lunch, we headed across the building for a movie together. It's a completely different atmostphere at the ticketing counter with students mostly in uniforms queueing for tickets. I even made a remark to Pete that if I ever catch Chloe in her uniform next time, she will get it from me. Well...we shall see in about 15 years from now?

Mother's Day

We were out for a simple timsum lunch with my mom in law at Peach Garden Restaurant at Thomson Plaza on Sunday.

Chloe is busy munching her poky biscuits when we requested her to kiss me for this shot.

After lunch, we proceeded to Robinsons at Centrepoint to get a set of bedsheets before proceeding to Punggol. Here at my new home, Chloe did a perfect pose just in time for me to snap & say CHEESE!

One of my favourites, can see her dimples!
